Minimum System Requirements to Install WordPress
Before starting to install WordPress, you need to check if your system or hosting server meets the minimum server requirements for WordPress.
- Database Server − MySQL 5.0 +
- Web Server −
- WAMP ( If Windows)
- LAMP (If Linux)
- XAMP ( Multi-platform)
- MAMP (IF Macintosh)
- Operating System Cross-platform
- Browser Support IE (Internet Explorer 8+), Firefox, Google chrome, Safari, Opera and almost all major browsers.
- PHP Compatibility − PHP 5.2 and higher
Requirements for installing WordPress on your local machine.
Install XAMPP on your computer : XAMPP comes with a bundle of Apache and Mysql so that fulfills all the requirements for us. If you don’t know how to install XAMPP then CLICK HERE

Requirements for installing WordPress on your web hosting.
Most of the hosting by default support WordPress hence you need not to configure anything and if your hosting provider does not support WordPress then you should call your hosting support or change your hosting.
Download WordPress :
You need to download a fresh copy of WordPress from the https://wordpress.org website.
Copy WordPress Files
After downloading, extract the zip file and copy the files inside WordPress folder.
-If installing on your computer
/xampp/htdocs/ directory on your computer inside your
c:// directory, complete path would be
c://xampp/htdocs if you are using windows and you have installed XAMPP with default settings.
Now you have to make sure that XAMPP is running and start “APACHE” and “MySQL” from it’s control panel.
-If installing on Webhost
Now paste the WordPress files in
www directory of your webhost.
Creating Database with phpmyadmin
phpmyadmin in your web browser.
Now you will see a login screen.
Default login credentials are :- Username : root and Password is nothing. After you login to your phpmyadmin go to Databases and create a new database as in the image below.
You can also create database fro your hosting C-Panel.
Go to browser and start the Setup Wizard
Now that you have created a new database, go to localhost/< your wordpress folder > or your web address and it will open a WordPress install screen like below.
Now select your preferred language for the WordPress and click on Continue.

Here you can view the information required for the database before proceeding further with WordPress installation.
Now click on Let’s go!
Fill database info
Now you have to fill the reuired database info.
Database Name − Enter the database name which you have created in MySQL database for WordPress.
Username − Enter the user name of your MySQL database.
Password − Enter the password which you had set for MySQL database.
Database Host − Write the host name, by default it will be localhost.
Table Prefix − It is used to add prefix in the database tables which helps to run multiple sites on the same database. It takes the default value.
After filling the info, click on Submit button.
Run the install WordPress
If your database details are correct then you will get this confirmation screen.
Now click run the install button and install process should begin.
Administrative information screen
It contains following fields :
Site Title − Enter the name of the site which you are going to create in WordPress.
Username − Enter the username as per your choice while logging in the WordPress.
Password two times − Enter password two times to protect your site.
Your E-mail address − Enter your e-mail address which helps to recover the password or any update.
Privacy − It allows the search engine to index this site after checking the checkbox.
After filling all the info, click the Install WordPress button.
After installation is successful, you will see a success screen as the following screen.
Now click Login.

After filling the login details, it will take you to WordPress dashboard.
Now your WordPress is installed on your computer. In this above process install WordPress, it will automatically create its database tables in your database, you will get a nice dashboard and front-end pre-built for you WordPress.
